You guys have a much better than I did when I was your age. All I was told is that there are is heaven and a hell and you have to make a choice of which you want and you better make the right choice and behave perfectly or you’re in trouble! Salvation was about saving you from the world, Jesus rescuing you by taking you away. Jesus certainly saves us, but He did it by breaking the power of sin, disarming the enemy (see Colossians 2:15), proclaiming and inaugurating the kingdom of heaven here on earth just as He taught his disciples to pray.
I thank God that today guys understand that it’s about KINGDOM - getting an inheritance here and now, and not getting to heaven one day. You understand it’s about bringing heaven to earth by loving and living as Jesus did.
Now, the catch is that you are more responsible. When “Kingdom” happens the stakes are much higher. When you figure out that you were born to be loved it’s over.
Jesus you get for free, Christ will cost you everything. Go take the biggest risk you can, with him, as him on earth and you will not regret it. Yes, when you asked Jesus into your heart he came dwelt within you and saved you, but he didn’t come to live within you to just coast through life. He came to give you abundant life (John 10:10), and that you would know him through it all (John 17:3). Look at His life. Who were the ones who knew him most intimately? The twelve disciples were the ones who risked it all. They left home just to know Jesus, and thus to love his people.
It’s not about you starting the next greatest coffee shop, or becoming a billionaire so you can fund the kingdom, or creating the coolest ministry if it’s not about these three words, “Love one another.” A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35 NKJV)
It’s a race, a continual yes every step of the way. There’s something and someone we are going after in this thing. This is what Paul talks about when he writes,
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the game goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.” (1 Corinthians 9:24-27)
There’s a crown ahead, and actually the Scriptures talk about 5 crowns that are ahead of us in Christ. I will lay out what these 5 crowns are in future posts, but for this week I want you to think about what all of this means for you.
Here’s the challenge:
Is there something you know that God is calling you to take that next step in? Tell someone or email us back what that thing is, then take that step.
Your’s in the journey,
